County Monaghan has a population of over 52,000 people.
Monaghan is designated as a hub town under the Government’s National Spatial strategy.
County Monaghan has been earmarked for part of the Governments Decentralisation plan.
Multi-million euro investments have been made in the infrastructure of the county with by-pass projects in Monaghan, Carrickmacross and Castleblaney.
A new state of the art Leisure Centre has been constructed in Monaghan Town and Christy O Connor Junior and Senior have come together to develop the Concra Wood Golf course on the shores of Lough Muckno in Castleblaney.
The entrepreneurial spirit of the county has seen the growth of Combi Lift and Kingspan Century Homes into international business concerns. At the same time local businesses continue to grow. Monaghan is recognised as a significant player in the furniture manufacturing sector and is home to many of Ireland’s leading food processing companies.
With its prime location along the border Monaghan has benefited from significant Cross Border investment and continues to offer shoppers north of the border a vast range of retail and service options.
